FEMA Proposes Base Flood Elevation Modifacations

FEMA(Federal Emergency Management Agency) has proposed modifacations to the Base Flood Elevations for certain locations within the Town of Ulster.  FEMA published Legal Notices in the Daily Freeman on December 13 and 15, 2007 to inform the public that modifacations have been proposed.  A 90-day appeals period follows the second publication of the legal notice.  During the appeal period, any owner or lessee of real property in the Town of Ulster who believes his or her property rights will be adversely affected by the Base Flood Elevation  modifacations may make an appeal.  Scientifice or technical data that negates or contradicts FEMA's findings must be presented by the affected owner or lessee.   For more information call Jim Maloney, Flood Coordinator, at 845-331-1317.
